HMSI: Year 4 - L’année d’amour
Year 4 started like any other. Well, ok that’s not entirely true. I had a lot more work to do, since I had recently raised Rice Island and had unlocked both Rice and Wheat seeds. So when the ground thawed out for the spring, I had a lot of hoeing and planting to do! I knew it would be worth it to start making the BIG BUCKS! (Warning: this is gonna be a long entry! lol)
Of course, all that reaped rice and wheat isn’t exactly useful without a “Thresher” machine, so I had to hire Gannon to build a Maker Shed. It wasn’t cheap. Then I found out that I need to UPGRADE the shed before I can even order a Thresher, and once I finally upgrade, the actual machine will cost 20 Adamantite AND 100K!! AHHH!!! Sooo yeah I don’t have one yet. I did buy a Butter and Cheese maker tho.
At Meadow Island, there was only one island left to raise: Greenhouse Island. I only had 8 Sunstones so I had to find a few more stones to get the final island up at shore level! I decided to work on raising my friendship with Regis and Sabrina, since I would get 3 Sunstones out of the deal. So I headed over to Regis’ mansion. When I walked in, apparently I was interrupting a very important visit from a certain someone! Vaughn was asking to speak to Regis, so that he could ask for Sabrina’s hand in marriage!
I was shocked. I never really wanted to marry Vaughn, but I was surprised because I had finally gotten him up to a blue heart status. I had hoped to at least go on a date with him before I had my own wedding. Oh well, apparently Vaughn had other plans. I don’t really know what he sees in Sabrina, but that’s his problem I guess! lol
A week later, I had earned my Sunstones and Vaughn had his bride. Their stupid wedding took up an entire day, which I was not pleased with. Thankfully my crops had an excellent Spring season, and I was able to harvest plenty of strawberries. Unfortunately since strawberries are so fickle, I didn’t want to leave the fruit out very long in case it decided to die. So I didn’t get any above Rank B, and therefore was doomed to lose the Crop Festival! Noooooo!
OH! I forgot to mention, I have now acquired the ‘rare’ breed for all my farm animals. I have a Silkie Hen, a Suffolk Sheep and a Jersey Cow! I wanted to enter one of my sheep in the Sheep Festival in the spring, but apparently a sheep can only be entered if it still has it’s wool… and I was too diligent a rancher. So I didn’t get to enter the sheep festival YET AGAIN. At least now I know…
Anyway, so after Vaughn and Sabrina got married, Vaughn moved into the mansion with her and is now able to be found on Sprout Island daily. At first I figured I could raise Vaughn’s heart level easier. Then I thought, “What the hell am I wasting my time on this married man for?” and promptly began raising my friendship with Lily instead. But this whole marriage/wedding theme was now stuck in my head. I had made a rule with myself that I wouldn’t get married until I had at least MET all the other bachelors.
This rule became unnecessary once Mark showed up, after I raised Greenhouse Island. He barged into my house to introduce himself. I even held a mini-event to introduce Mark to the other guys around town. (Vaughn was his usual asshole self, and when Denny tried to help him out, Vaughn was a total jerk to Denny! Why are they such rivals? Denny is way better. Hehehe!) I realized after these few interactions with Mark that he looks like a 5 year old and therefore isn’t worthy of even having a heart event with.
After a fruitful (seriously! My fruit trees are starting to actually bear fruit now, which is awesome!) summer, I decided it was definitely time to settle down myself. Here is a photolog of my exciting Fall Wedding!

I brought Denny the coveted Blue Feather. We decided to go back to my house to talk about it. Denny said that he was surprised, that he didn’t expect anyone to ever give him a feather. (Aww!) After that, he said he was sure that his parents were watching down on us from heaven, and that they were happy for him. I felt kinda bad but…

Denny assured me that this was the happiest day for him!!
A week later, the wedding took place. Nathan asked Denny, “Do you swear to love and cherish Debz?”

I really like Denny’s curly hair all loose like this! And I thought it was cute that he kept his pet bird on his shoulder, even during the ceremony!
We are finally married!

I especially loved how Lanna was attending the wedding. No doubt she was sobbing uncontrollably that her crush was marrying ME instead. Too bad, bitch-face! :P
When the wedding was over, we returned back to OUR home. That I paid for. Heh. (Who is gonna be using Denny’s shack by the beach now? Maybe he’ll just keep all his fishing supplies over there so it doesn’t stink up our house lol!) Denny asked what my pet name should be. I wanted to go with ‘Hot Lips’ but it was too many letters. So I went with something boring instead… Booboo!

And then we all lived happily ever after! So far. I still have a lot of work to do before the game is REALLY completed! My goal is to pretty much beat the game (by that I mean, raising Sunny Island… and not complete the Shipping List. Cuz that’ll take a while) before the NEXT Harvest Moon game comes out at the end of July. Wish me luck! :D
